About V-Square® Photography

Background

All images featured in this site were captured using Hasselblad V- or X-series medium format cameras. Transparencies or negatives from V-series cameras were scanned into high resolution digital files for post-capture processing in PhotoShop and for printing. Digital files from X-series cameras were imported through Phocus to Photoshop for post-capture processing.  Processing always is limited to the following:

— Cropping and leveling (rotation)

— Dust artifact removal (spotting)

— Perspective correction (indicated by a “p” in the image identifier)

— Color balance and contrast adjustment to reflect original capture conditions

No modifications have been made to the basic elements of any image.

Image Availability

Images on this website are available as high quality digital photographic prints for personal or public display. Many of these images also are available from Getty Images as royalty-free digital files for commercial use.

Prints are made using archival inks on premium quality photographic papers, and are available either unmounted or dry-mounted on museum-grade archival photo mount boards with or without mats. Prints are issued either in unlimited editions or in signed, numbered, limited editions of 99, and can be sized according to your needs and display preferences.

All images are in square format; however, prints cropped to specification are available.

Image Rendition

The images on this site all produce excellent quality prints.  The nature of web-based presentation introduces three sources of image degradation affecting your viewing experience:

— The resolution of the image shown on the website is vastly reduced from the resolution in the source file

— The images shown here are displayed in a reduced-gamut color space called sRGB, which reduces the number of color values that are represented compared with the color values available for printing (especially an issue with black & white images)

— The color representation for your specific monitor (computer, tablet, or smartphone) almost certainly is different from the calibrated color representation used to create printed images
